On behalf of GMP Contracting, I thank American Management Services, Inc. (Amserv) and Colin Chin and Brad Sullivan in the completion of the improvement program with our company. Specifically, Brad and Colin for providing the necessary management guidance and assistance that enabled us to redirect our focus toward implementing significant operational changes and standardization of operations and financial procedures within our business thereby improving our profit performance.

The results of the project have positioned our company to proactively manage the factors that had previously led to inconsistent performance. My company has been typified by hard work but only reacting to issues as they arose. Profits suffered, and we were ill-prepared for the growth I envisioned for my company.

While we had a dedicated staff, we needed to understand how to better operate the company and gain business tools that would enable us to make better tactical and strategic decisions as a management team.

Colin and Brad understood what was required and immediately worked to develop an approach to improving our business. At the same time, they remained appropriately sensitive to the nuances and unique characteristics of a business that, at its fundamental core, is driven by both my vision for the company’s future and remaining directly involved in key company activities.

Brad provided the needed guidance and business counsel for addressing many issues that required a balanced understanding of good business practices and family business needs. He worked with us to implement organizational changes and developed new procedures to establish clear lines of accountability, provided essential business management tools and processes, and provided production management processes to ensure appropriate gross margins are attained. In the end, he developed a “Predetermined Profit Plan” model that will keep us on track to achieve our established goals.

Colin provided the functional knowledge, tools, and process improvements to an under-staffed financial department, as well as providing guidance and leadership for the executive management team. His work resulted in their understanding and acceptance of responsibilities for measurable financial performance and the implementation of processes to deliver results.

We have instituted recommended changes that will yield us an annual improvement in profitability of $4,608,393 annually, aggregating to $13,825,180 over the next three years. Though the initial full implementation of the program was challenged by key management personnel issues out of the control of Colin and Brad; with their direct support I was able to make the mission-critical changes necessary to build an executive management staff that has and will continue to propel us to new heights as a company.
