With the help of American Management Services, Inc., we have put in place key tools and processes to increase our level of profitability, team performance, and the metrics to ensure we are achieving results.
Some of the key items we have implemented:
- A Fully Burdened Labor Rate to ensure all costs are accounted for in the estimating and bidding process; established the shop hours needed to produce the predetermined profit.
- Expanded the Strumis ERP System company-wide for estimating, job costing, purchasing, inventory and labor tracking.
- Workforce measurement of Utilization and Efficiency.
- Weekly Management Meetings including: Job Costing, Production Scheduling, Flash Reporting of leading operational KPI’s, Bid Log Summary, Cash Flow Forecast.
- A predetermined profit plan that incorporates our process improvements and actions for profit, allowing us to put management focus on achieving targeted shop hours, spending controls and bidding volumes. Our monthly financial review now includes analysis of key variances to our plan, along with corrective actions.
- A pay-for-performance plan rewarding the organization for winning and producing projects below the Estimated Hours.
- Recruited and hired a Shop Foreman, Production Planner and Estimator. Established the Human Resources and Controller functions to ensure we have the skilled staff and controls in place to achieve our Budget Plan.
We expect the work described above to produce an incremental operating profit to our company of more than $5,725,221 over the next three years, an amount that far exceeds the cost of the program.
